Boo To Blue Light
You're not imagining things if after a long day at work, or even while plugging away at your computer, you're feeling annoyances like a tugging or twitching sensation in your eyes, blurry vision, dry eyes and headaches. Even kids who spend a good amount of time playing on iPads or computer games are susceptible to these syndromes.
You can't see it coming, but it's blue light emanating from digital screens are contribute to such symptoms, known collectively as Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS). The best prevention is, of course, to take at least a five-minute break for every hour of work or computer use, either by gazing away into the distance or literally getting up from your desk and taking a short walk. Otherwise, ophthalmic lenses coated with blue control filters can block out a significant percentage of blue light, deflecting its ill effects from reaching your eyes.
In addition to CVS, blue light can keep you awake longer and even contribute to the onset of macular degeneration, retinal damage for which there is no cure and leads to eventual blindness. Blue control lenses are available in both prescription and non-prescription - just ask one of our optometrists or opticians for a demo and see the difference. Even if you don't need vision correction, it's a great excuse to sport a good-looking frame in the office while protecting your precious eyesight!
